P - VOLUME XXXIII ALMA MATER Midst the hills of Fulton County With her view so grand; Stands our noble Alma Mater Known throughout the land. Sing, 0 sing, ye youths and maidens, Let her praises rise; Crowned with majesty and honor Hail to Forbes Road High. Neath the dome of heaven's wonder, Proud she lifts her head, Mingled with the clouds of glory Flushed with victory red. Sing, 0 sing, ye youths and maidens, Let her praises rise; Crowned with majesty and honor Hail to Forbes Road High. Dedication One individual can sometimes make the difference in a number of lives. We wish to acknowledge the one person whom we feel has made a lasting impression within the memories of those whose lives he has touched, in the brief time he has been here. Our class and our school has grown through the wisdom, knowledge and understanding he brought with him. It is with much respect and pride that we. the Class of 1982. dedicate the thirty-third edition of the CARDINAL to Mr. JAMES HEROUX. A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. -Henry Adams Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 3 FOREWORD The yearbook staff presents the 1982 CARDINAL in the hopes of preserving your memories of Forbes Road High School. The staff would like to thank those who made this yearbook a success. 4 PHOTOGRAPHERS Bill Watkin, Dale Wakefield CO- EDITORS Michele Houck, Becky Worthing 5 YEARBOOK STAFF Mrs. Komir. advisor; Michele Houck. Board of Education ' . %[ M CLASS % A LASTING TRIBUTE A member of the faculty was truly missed this year when Miss Fredith Nolan took a one year sabbatical. During her teaching career. Miss Nolan has played a spirited role in the high schools' activities. In the past, she has been an assistant field hockey coach and an adviser to many clubs, such as the National Honor Society, the former Tri High Y and Yearbook Staff. Over the years, she has also been an advisor to several classes. Along with her extra-curricular activities, Miss Nolan has enlightened all of her students with her unique teaching methods. She has taught History. World Cultures. English and Geography. We are looking forward to her return next year. On January 8. 1982, Mr. Clyde Blair officially resigned as the Superintendent of Forbes Road Area School District. Mr. Blair accepted the position of chief executive in administration at Forbes in August of 1977. Since that time, he has been responsible for a number of accomplishments. Two of these accomplishments were markers of achievement within the walls of Forbes. The much needed discipline code was adopted by the Student Council. Faculty and School Board. The use of computers in various classrooms was a giant step for Forbes. Mr. Blair was also responsible for the purchase of industrial art equipment, the implementation of a senior work experience program and the balancing of the ever- present budget! We sincerely wish Mr. Blair much luck in his new position! It is with mixed feelings, sadness for Forbes and happiness for her. that we experienced the final school year of an established faculty member. Mrs. Helen Mosebey. who has been a vital part of the Forbes Road curriculum and extra curricular activity scene, is retiring upon the end of the first semester of the 1981-82 school year. We feel Mrs. Mosebey deserves much recognition for the various responsibilities she has had since coming to Forbes in 1958. In the past, these responsibilities included cheerleading advisor and drama advisor. For a number of years, as she is this year, she has been the advisor of the CARDINAL HIGHLITES, the Future Business Leaders of America Club, and the Cardinal Yearbook Staff. Mrs. Mosebey will be greatly missed at Forbes. We wish her much happiness and enjoyment during her retirement! The pride of the Cove League Champions would remain within memories; since, in the history of Forbes Road School, this was to be the final season for the team sport of field hockey. Those who played Field Hockey acknowledged a feeling of loss for a sport that gave FR the opportunity to display talent and pride in recognition for their school. 1980 Scores Varsity McConnellsburg H 3-4 Fannett Metal H 3-0 Southern Huntingdon H 4-0 McConnellsburg A 1-0 Fannett Metal H 4-0 Southern Huntingdon A 3-0 McConnellsburg A 0-2 Southern Huntingdon H 4-1 Fannett Metal A 2-0 Junior Varsity Fannett Metal H 1-0 Southern Huntingdon H 0-0 McConnellsburg A 0-0 Fannett Metal H 0-0 Southern Huntingdon A 0-2 McConnellsburg A 0-2 Southern Huntingdon H 1-1 Fannett Metal A 0-0 71 Batter-Up Todd Fix 72 Front Row: Todd Tix.
