We thought you might be Interested to hear about a trip which we took recently. We saw most of our former classmates-members of the freshman class during your first year as principal after you returned to Hustontown. Our journey started on a T.W.A. airliner with BILL WRIGHT as pilot and GLORIA DESHONG as the hospitable stewardess. Our first stop was at San Diego, Calif, where RON BOOKHEIMER was in charge of training new Marine recruits. We left Calif, on an oceanliner with BILL MOSEBY as captain. BILL cruised us to Japan where we found MR.and MRS. FRED BLACK, nee GLENDA TRUAX, and their two children. FRED is engaged as a chemical engineer in a silk factory. The next day we flew to Paris. While we were there, we attend- ed a fashion show where we saw GERALDINE GROVE now Mrs. Tommy Shade and her husband on their second honeymoon. One of the models in the show was one our former classmates, MISS DELORES DOWNES. Our next stop was London, England. There we found DICK PRICE and GALEN WINEGARDNER attending Oxford University. Also in London we rented a car from a Jaguar agency run by L10YD CHILCOTE and ROBERT KYLOR. This terminated our stay in Europe and we flew back to the United States, and landed at La Guardia Field. ROMONA GIAMBRA is a nurse in a prominent New York Hospital. She told us MARY FRAKER is married and living in an apartment close to the college of her husband. We attended a movie in New York and, much to our surprise, saw BILL MILLER as the star. He had finally put his smile to use. Next we Journeyed down to Philadelphia, where we saw a huge building under construction. Foreman of this Job?? CLAIR MILLER. Traveling the Pa. Turnpike we stopped at a new Howard Johnson's Resturant where BERNICE COOK was head waitress. Next we stopped at Breezewood where we learned CHUCK LEIDY and DON BLACK had moved up permanently as husbands. On our way back to California we traveld on a new super high- way on which LARRY KNEPPER had worked as a civil engineer. EDWARDS or her taLKEVrSK W69k'end fATTI—rly HUSTON n™ -! ?Sa? Antonio Texas where we saw VIRGINIA HUSTON(formerly BLAINE) hanging up her wash for her two children. We returned home to Las Vegas were PARKER works as a Stock Speculator and I, ©s a secretary for George Gobel. That concludes our trip’ round the world. We hope you have enjoyed this letter as much as we did our days at Hustcntown High. Yours truly, PARKER KNEPPER and MARY ELLEN OKESON We entered Hustcntown High School in the year of ’51 as scared and bashful freshman. During the year we participated in many sports such as soccer, track, baseball, and basketball. We presented our first play, Cornin' Round the Mountain , under the direction of Miss Gensler. In preparation for our trip to Washing- ton our senior yesr v e had bake sales and a roller skating party to raise money. In '52 we came back to school as a much braver group. V e felt sorry for the freshman because we knew from our previous experience how backward and shy they must feel. Coming back in '53 we looked forward to getting our class rings. It was a great day in December when they arrived. To add to our treasure, we sold ice cream and produced a three act comedy, That's My Boy ,and sold refreshments for the senior play. All this money we worked for soon was spent when we treated the seniors to a banquet at Birch Hill Country Club in Lewistown, Pa. In '54 twenty-five out of fifty-two who started in '51 returned to school. By this time we were now nearing the end of our school years at Hustontown High, now called, Forbes Road Joint High School. Realizing the money we needed to make we took over the job of selling candy. A neat profit was made from the sales of Christmas cards and chancing off of a turkey at Christmas. In December we presented a comedy in three acts. Henpecked Menry . During this year much of cur time was spent working on our year- book which we considered a success. A number of cur class part- icipated In the Minstrel and Fashion Show held in March. We are now making plans for our Washington Trip and for Commencement Exercises both of which will take place in May.
