In sports, we were repres- ented by Sam Park, John Gallaher, and Ronnie Foreman in soccer. At the close of that season, Gallaher and Fore- man turned their efforts to basketball. Sally Waters, Joyce Barton, Mary Marts, and Janet Truax were part of the girl's squad. While the basketball season was in full swing, the interest of the class was cast toward the music depart- ment. Most of the girls and some of the boys were members of the chorus. In the operetta Mississippi Melody , Dolores Sheffield, John Gallaher, Almeta Mills, and Joyce Barton had leading roles. With the coming of spring we again contributed our share of talent in track, baseball, and softball. To earn money for our trip to Washington we pre- sented a play, Aunt Tillie Goes To Town , sold ice cream, chanced off a turkey at Thanksgiving and candy at Valentine'8 Day. In addition to our work on the school newspaper, we financed the banquet for the seniors at the close of the school term. opL wnomore ♦ 7 at '• ' % a vk f s • v Ci o r . i 1L a k a| a C w’ SJ kw Ji a C 4 a aM m ■ j I 1st row; Carol Alloway, Donald Bergstresser, Noil Bergstresser, George Bishop, Clark Brant, Warren Brown. 2nd row: Cherie Chamberlain, Earl Curchall, Dick Decker, Ruth Fetters, Evelyn Fix, Evelyn Foster. 3rd row;- LaWanda Foster, Raymond Hawkins, Helen Hess, Donald Huston, Paul Johnson, Earl King. 4th row; Edith Knepper, Naomi Kylor, Walter Lake, Miriam McQuait, SMrley Martz, Allen Melius. 5th row; Helen Mills, Frances Mellott, Hazel Mellott, Nancy Mellott, Betty Mumma, Jim Mumma. omore a f 4 r-y 1st row: Bill Nsugle, Bill Parsons, Helen Hunk, Bernice Sheffield, Marion Sheffield, Beverly Souders. 2nd row; Helen Stevens, Carl Strait, Marilyn Thomas, Gordon ffeakland. Clark Brant, Warren Brown, Paul Johnson, and Earl King represented us on the soccer field. Basketball again saw Clark Brunt and Warren Brown on the court. However, to these names were added Bill Parsons, Betty Mumma, Shirley Marts, and Jackie Sheffield. Helen Stevens as a cheerleader, helped spur our teams on to victory. The soring sports also saw both the boys and girls participating. W e also put in stellar dramatic and musical performances by taking part in our class play and the school operetta. We,too, did our share for the school newspaper. We are looking forward to two more -just as successful- years at Hustontown High School. 2 1‘csl (55|- tmen cs B t 4 4L M 1 y ■MB % - 9 ■ p, n ir jft. n 6 1 Jib '1 .'
