In September of 1947 we entered the portale of Huston- town High School as meek and undignified Freshmen. We were a little frightened at the thought of so many new teachers. After we became acquainted with everyone we were more at ease. Our activities included basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, chorus, and membership in the F.H.A. and F.F.A. clubs. We managed passing grades and left the school to a much enjoyed vacation. As Sophomores we returned to school feeling delighted at the prospect of another term. We resumed our duties and presented a class play, Gallopin’ Grandma . During the baseball season we increased our treasury selling hot dogs and cold pop at all the home games. We held a party the last day of school for the Freshmen at Allen Valley. It was much enjoyed by all who attended. The following Autumn we entered Hustontown High as the Jolly Juniors . In March we presented the class play, Desperate Ambrose, which proved successful. By this time we were displaying shiny new class rings. We also held a farewell banquet in honor of the Senior class. At last the few of us which believed we needed a high school education had become Seniors. In November we had the class play, George In A Jam , under the direction of Miss Gensler and Mrs. Xeebaugh. We raised funds for our graduation trip to Washington,D.C.,by selling ice cream to the students during the term and refreshments at the Junior play. Then at last came the day when we received our diplomas and we said good-bye to our good old days at H.H.S.,our faculty, and our friends. eu Wilt We, the class of 1951, in the town of Hustontown, the county of Pulton, and the state of Pennsylvania, being in as good a mental condition as can be expected and much humor than usual do hereby make this, our last will and testament rendering void and of no avail any former will or wills that have been previously made by us during a period of temporary insanity. Although, being as psychologically complex as befits a class of our superior intelligence. We consist of 23 separate entities. We feel that our record and our unusual achievements will live after us and in this manner we dispose of our possessions. We give and bequeath to the Junior class our good luck, our unfinished business, and whatever other junk we may have left behind in our haste. To our dear old school building we leave the peaceful quiet caused by our absence. To our principal Mr. Bbersole, and the other members of the faculty we leave our sincere appreciation for the pleasant years we have spent under their supervision. We also leave these possessions to these separate persons Clarence Shade leaves his special Toni to John King. Use it often John. Winifred Ulsh wills her weight to Alma Cutchall. Ruth Mellott wills her ability of holding on to the boys to Hazel Mellott. Harry Okeson leaves his baseball playing ability to John Gallaher. Kay Brant wills her ability to flirt to Ann Kerlin. Claude Reeder gives his bluffing ability to Bill Zilch Joann Houck wills her shape to Rachel Miller. Barry Souders leaves his running ability to Glenn Knepper. Raymond Melius leaves his shyness to Bill Parsons. Ann 3dwards says that Shirley Kesselring may continue cracking gum in Literature class after she leaves. Bill Anderson said that he has quit flipping girls on top of the head so George Bishop may carry on in his place. To Marlene Yingling, Beulah Regi wills her black hair. Grow bigger feet, Grump if you want to catch up with Larry Bishop’s size twelve. Connie Nier wills her worries to Naomi Kyler. To Warren Brown , Dean Brant wills his whiskers. Bette Strait wills her wool socks to anyone with cold feet. Maxine Truax wills her worries of keeping Nhyle to Bun Miller. Doris Keebaugh wills her smile to Miriam McQuait. Clair Park wills his brains to anyone that can handle them Ruth McClain bequeaths her quietness to Betty Eisaman. Ken Reeder just left on a Jet . Good Luck Ken. Freida Mellott leaves her Latin book to anyone who thinks they can recover from the effects. To Thelma Hann, Grace Kesselring wills her ability to write a letter a day to a certain sailor. Frances Fix leaves her Brooklyn Dodgers to Raymond Hawkins. In 1954 a few of the Class of 51 decided to take a trip around the States to see what had become of the rest of our class. Ite started our trip in Hustontown and found that some of our class had remained at home, Barry Souders, who was now out of the National Guard, was plowing on his 150 acre farm. Ruth Mellott on the adjoining farm had just finished hanging out her weekly wash. One baby doesn't wear all those diapers , Ruth. Maxine Truax and Larry Bishop have a partnership chicken farm on this side of Knobsville. Ve went to Philadelphia and stopped to see a National League baseball game. We 3aw Harry Okeson playing first base for the Phillies and Claude Reeder the new coach for the team. We heard that Fredia Mellott was a R.N. at John Hopkins, but now she was working for Dr. Clarence Shade. At lunch time we ate at the Shamrock and who should wait on us but Ann Edwards , still at the same job. Looking at the Philadelphia Inquirer we saw that Betty Strait and Doris Keebaugh have been successful in acquiring jobs as secretaries to President Truman. (Poor girls). Ruth McClain, who has studied music for three years will have her debut this month at the Concert Hall and Beulah Rggi was playing pro basketball. Star of the team too. Laying the paper aside, we wondered who the editor of each a fine paper would be. And who? Clair Parks. A3 we left the resturant to return home, we met Kay Brant and Joann in their Waac uniforms. On our way home we passed a beautiful newly built house and in the yard Grace Feight nee Kesselring and her husband Dale, pluss three young boys, her's we suppose. A little further on we saw Dean Brant wash ing that grey Ford. Billy Anderson and Raymond Melius were cutting paperwood near Gettysburg. Returning home by Chambersburg, we saw Winifred Ulsh and Frances Fix on the steps of Thompson Business College. They told us that Connie Neir was studying art at Penn Hall. So ended our trip of exploration. fjoiwtlfl JUNIORS We, the Junior Class of Hustontown High School, hare suceeded in doing our he3t this year.
