A SAGA FOR MODERN VIKINGS Nine short months ago a band of daring Vikings set sail for a new land called Foothill. The decision to make the voyage was made only after much discussion about whether or not it was even wise to leave their homeland. Some feared they would not be properly pilotedg others that the ship was not sea-worthy, Like all pioneers, they were at the same time awed and intrigued by the unknown experiences that awaited them. But the crowded conditions in their homeland and the anticipation of new and exciting op- portunities caused them to set their doubts aside and venture out. The intrepid Vikings soon found that their vessel was sound and that the stormy seas soon calmed. Before they knew it the summer was over and they had arrived in the new land. They approached the building of a new life with enthusiasm and vigor and made plans for governing themselves and for working, studying and playing together, They soon became very proud of their new land -- the beautiful trees, stately buildings and friendly natives. Fiercely loyal, they defended the proud Viking name on athletic fields of battle. As the ' year ends and the new land has proven to be hospitable and rich in resources, plans are being made for 650 more Vikings to make their way to the new land. Those who are already at Foothill are anxious to show off their land to.those who will arrive in the Fall. M., Dale Lambert
