The team, coached by Laura Ghilarducci, had their most disappointing match at East High on March 18, when they lost the match 6-7 in a tie-breaker game. The highlight of the season came after their pre-season scrimmage in Shafter. Their reliable van carrying the tennis team quit at the corner of Fairfax and East Brundage Lane. The en- tire team got to walk back to school after winning their scrim- mage. Girls' Tennis: Front Plow: Serena Dingman, Kara Schuetz, Kathy Bolthous, Andrea Young, Marla Van- Schuyver, Pam Allison. Outstanding players were for- eign-exchange students Bjorn Moller, Mikko Vanhala, and David Shumaker. The lack of experience in match play was the major weakness of the young team, but they were always learning and using new techniques in matches.
