Soto leads JV Mat Nlen The Junior Varsity wrestling team had a 2-5 record in the SVL and took 7th place for the season. Team Captain was Gene Soto who was their strongest wrestler, according to coach Jeff Capoto. Other key players were Mott Binning and Diego Ruiz. For scoring the most points, LUayne Melson received a trophy. l.Ue had a younger team this year. Next year we will be bet- ter , said Capoto. Roland Uribe gets cleaned up by Sam Barnes. Soccer hos best sedson The varsity boys soccer team was the best ever, winning more games than in the previous four years combined. Their over- all record of 7 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties led them to 2nd place in the SYL. The first step was to make them believe in themselves, said Coach Hank Hinse. This was the first year at FHS for Hinse, who has coached for 15 years. Hinse is a former Danish professional soccer player. He's a good coach. l learned a lot from him. He makes the team work together, said Eduardo Perez. Perez will play for the California Selection team, chosen by 22 SYL coaches. The team started off slow, but toward the end they learned to work together and was able to play with the power teams of the league, said senior Chris Coyle. This by far is the best season we ever had, said fullback Jeremy Berlingeri. Boys Soccer 123
