The league had excellent talent throughout, and competition for first place was a struggle for everyone. FoothiIl's SYL record was 2-12 and the over-all was 10-16. The highlight of the season was the fact that we truly were competitive this year, said David Gelios. Teams no longer took us for granted. Also, early season play-off appearances in the San Louis Obispo and Highland Tournaments demonstrated significant strides for the FHS volleyball program. As the season came to an end, Kara Schuetz was noticed as an outstanding player. A sophomore lettering for her second time, she was named both 2nd Team, All-Area and 2nd Team, All-League. Shannon Rogers, a junior lettering for her third time, and Kris- tin Matheny, a junior lettering for her first time, were also strong players for the Trojans, added Gelios. Awards went to Most Valuable Player Kara Schuetz, Most lm- proved Player Samantha Garcia, and Most Inspirational Kristin Ma- theny. Gelios believes, that the 1988 version of the volleyball team will return with some excellent talent and experience so things could go even better! i Senior-Elhrgty Green spikes against Highland High. - .
