tw. . Wynette Woodworth takes it easy after a long race. Sophomore Elizabeth Elijo Girls' I-Countru sweeps to titles, 13-0 seoson This is the best team Foothill has ever had, said coach Ted Oliver. The team went undefeated all season and captured the first SYL crown ever for a Foothill girls' cross country team! All together, the team won the SYL and Area, placed 2nd in the Valley, and placed 15th in the State. The SYL record for the season was 7-0 while the overall record was 13-0. According to coach Oliver, Maryann Martinez, Lisa Carbone, Pam Woodworth, Wynette Woodworth, Elizabeth Alejo, Larrianne Tatman, and Jennifer Bagby were the team's key runners. Maryann Martinez led the way for the team. She won the sophomore championship at Hanford with the fastest time recorded by a South Yosemite girl this season, and went on to capture the Kern Valley Title. She took first place in the SYL championship. At Foothill, Maryann won the Most Valuable Player award. Wynette Woodworth won the Coaches Award, Larriann Tatman was the Most Improved, and Lisa Carbone won Most Inspired. Pam Woodworth paces herselfthrough Hart Park. ,. Cross Countru JV, FXS + Frosh Squods lose onlu l meet eoch The boys' Junior Varsity crosscountry team took second place in the South Yo- semite League, with an overall record of T A 12-1 and an SYL record of 6-1. - Three JV runners placed in the top ten of the SYL. Bill Williford, David Varela, and Ernie Contreras placed 3rd, 4th, and 9th, respectively. Coach Ted Oliver said a good turnout, numberwise and good senior I leadership helped the JV squad capture 2nd place in both the Wasco Invitational and the Kern Invitational. The Frosh!Soph team also has a strong season, with an SYL record of 6-1 and overall 12-1 in dual meets. Sophomores John Gregory and Devin Rambo placed 5th and 8th in the SYL, with John Gregory voted the Most Improved JV runner' vino, Asst. coach Margie Stauffer Freshman. Back row: Cam-Intunez, Jesus Trujillo, Danny Jacquez, Johr:-C-Sliver, Danny Pearson, James Oliver. Front row: Coach Ted Oliver, Dustin Carpenter, Abel Salazar, Brad Evertse, Arturo Saenz, Asst.
