Teacher's ww... Dream As the bell rings silence fills the room. Every student is sitting in their correct seat with pen, paper, and books on top of their desks, ready to work. Roll is taken, no absences, no tardies. All of the homework is collected in an orderly fashion, and put in a neat pile in the third period basket. The new assignment is given, and a short explana- tion is made. The clock ticks on as the students silently do their work. Occasionally a student raises his hand to receive an explanation to a question asked, The bell rings, students are dismissed, and then, and only then do they pack up and leave, wie assi Realit As the bell sounds signaling the beginning of class, some teachers find it necessary to use force to get their students into class. Ten minutes into the period roll is finally able to be taken. The reason for this delay in toll taking? Well, a teacher must wait for the number of students that stroll into the room lateg there are the standard excuses that are given I had to go to the resttoom! g I had to go get an adrnit! g I didn't have enough time to get here and to go to my locker too! Even after the tardies arrive, the list of absentees is longer than the list of students present. Now it begins, The large group of students that crowd around the teachet's desk, 1 forgot my book! I need to go to my locker, g Can I go to the testroom? g I forgot my homework in my friends car. g My hampster ate my homework, Ill have to re-do it tonight. When the teacher is finally able to get everyone into a seat, and has the students attention, somewhat, the next assignment is given out. Only seconds later at least one-half the students ask, What is the assignment? Do we have to have sooooo much work? g ls there any homework? Finally the teacher has to ask a student to explain what was said because he is tired of repeating himself. Frustrated, the teacher is ready to collapse on his desk. Why can't his classes be like his dreams?
