The Weekend . . . by jon Hunt A weary ragged caravan stops to drink at an oasis in the middle of the scorching desert. The key to understanding this sentence is to recognize the symbolism. The weary caravan and scorching desert represent the student body and the school. The oasis is the weekend. Friday ends all the mental anguish of the past four days and home work is quickly pushed aside to make room for the weekends events. Most teachers recognize this and so lit- tle home work is assigned. Students often say Friday is my favorite day of the week or I can't wait till Friday. After the euphoria of the weekend, depression inspires com- ments like I hate Mondays. So when the weekend rolls around all I can say is Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow might be Monday. W Elf. That so many people would be so helped by his invention, that they would feel as if they had a new life just because they could see like other people. I also wonder if he could realize that his invention once would be used as an ornament. Today glasses are a triviality, people wear them whether they have to or not. They like to wear them because they give you a different look. Dur- ing the centuries the glasses are also one of the things that have kept its look and escaped further modifications. just compare with how the cars have been developed during the years. If you want to see a lot of glasses in the latest fashion style, you should visit a beach on a sunny day. It's incredible in how many different shapes they appear. They are square, round, heart shaped, triangulars and so on, but the basic idea is the same, glasses and frames to wear on your nose. One music star that has taken glasses as a characteristic is Elton john. He appears every con- cert with different shaped glasses. The latest within the glasses fashion is how to wear them. The main idea is to wear them straight on your nose. Teachers and grandfathersfmothers usually prefer to wear them on the tip of their nose. Cdon't ask me why.J Girls usually prefer to wear them in their hair as an ornament instead of a hair ribbon. Another look is the ski-look. It's when you bind a string to your glasses' frame which is colored in the latest fashionable colour and then hang them around your neck, or another is to carry them in your breast-pocket. The absolutely latest look copies Tom Cruz's look in Top Gun and it's for men. It's pilot glasses with mirror glass. But when you think about it you will realize that glasses today are not a thing that makes you see better. It is also a thing that characterizes your personality.
