The Sophomore Year For the class of '89, this year was a memorable one. They were no longer Freshmen or Baby Falcons. They were taking wing. In Safety Ed. classes, they learned about driving and soon received their learners spermits. Parents were held prisoner in cars while the students practiced their driving skills. Finally the magic sixteenth birthday arrived . . . Watch out world! Along with driving came a new freedom. The freedom to assume adult responsibilitiesg working to pay for gas, insurance and their hot new wheels. Come Spring semester, the parking lot bulges. Students have to resort to parking on side streets, in the dirt, and even in the Faculty parking lot, oh for the good old bus days, gone forever. Driving wasn't the only thing important to the Sophomore Class. They were very active. They prepared for homecoming by building a float, the theme, George of the jungle. They sold M 84 M's, and Christmas or- naments to earn money. They showed their growing school spirit at sports activities and during Spirit Week. The Sophomores sponsored other activities during the Spring Semester. The Sadie Hawkins Day dance is always popular with the girls because they can ask the boy of their choice. The labels on the shirts are status symbols or tell what you like or where you have been. The most popular t-shirts are surfer shirts. Shirts that say Reach the Beach, or Hang loose, Kids have them in every style, brand and saying. Beer t-shirts are popular as well. The most popular is Corona. Corona says Hey I'm hip, I drink imported Mexican Beer. Other kinds worn are Budwiser, Coors, and Moosehead. Another kind of t-shirts. They say I've been here, why haven't you. They usually have a colorful design too.'Other kinds of t-shirts are college t-shirts, concert t-shrits and cartoon t-shirts. .........-.... ,..b m.,. 1 x I confess, you caught me doing my homework. CLIQUES - Cliques are everywhere, and FHS is no exception. Over at the west end of campus beneath a puff of smoke, you can make out all of the Marlboro men and women. HDUDE! Did you see jerome in the section today? He's so KILLER. He blew rings for five minutes with unfiltered cigs! I love his new leather, they grip him in all of the right places ow baby! Hey man turn up the Ozzy! Down a ways and to the right we spot the NERDS, GEEKS, and SPAZ'S. In order to find the molecular mass of the mole, we know avogadros number 6.02 x l0to the 23rd power will help us compute the result. Geez, just swell, my calculator is not operating correctly. These are the main gangs at Foothill, we can only laugh. Whether we're chain smokers, Chemistry contemporaries or under the impression that the blue and gold is KING, we're all human, and underneath the pads, lettermen, pom-poms, pencils, plaid and smoke wc're all really the same.
