Music at Fontbonne is a major activity and an important reason for this is our orchestra. At any formal assembly or at the traditional Class Day and Commencement exercises, the strains of a brisk march or a stirring hymn are an enjoyable addition to the program. In the Annual Spring Concert, the culmination of the year's work is seen as the orchestra offers the finest selections in classical music. However, behind this success are many hours of earnest rehearsal, all worthwhile, for they result in such quality musicianship as that displayed by President Maureen Corrigan and Librarian Rita Fumo. Secretary Rita Fu mo outstanding for operation. Barbara McGinley, Aurelie Mini- kine, Maureen Corrigan, Kathleen McCarthy, and Linda Stillwagon tune up before a performance with accompanist Loretta Trancone. Carolyn Blollo, Betty Jane Brock, Mary Jane Driscoll, Marie Leuzzi, Ann Marie Franco, and Corinne Capo- lino display proficiency on the clarinet while Barbara Petrosino and Constance Kaline join their talents on the trumpet. Barbara Boyling, Patricia Kelly, and Judith Muller add a rhythmic beat with the percus- sion instruments. The enthusiasm of these girls is the spirit that makes our orchestra successful.
