This course helps build character while strengthening the body. lt encourages students to display good sportsmanship and teaches them the importance of teamwork. Craftsmanship skills are taught in all four of the shop classes. Wood shop, metal shop, electric shop, and drafting are offered to all eighth and ninth graders. It is a requisite for all seventh graders, who first learn safety rules and fundamentals of machine and tool use. sa f l

I S The Education Cf Its Youth I Diogenes i History is the study of all that was, is, and .will be. History is divided into three categories. Western European history is covered in seventh grade. United States history and the Constitution are studied in the eighth grade. In the ninth grade, Ancient to Modern history is covered. ,. - LLL, Spanish is offered at all grade levels. In the seventh grade, students take either Conversational Spanish, a semester course, or Spanish IA, which is a year course. Eighth and ninth grade students have a choice of any three, depending on their previous knowledge of Spanish. French and German are languages offered only to eighth and ninth graders. Students have a choice between French IA or IB and German IA or IB.

Of The Soul-joulbert The field of Art has many aspects.. a variety of which is offered to students in junior high. Seventh graders are required to take T a semester of Art I, but in eighth and as ninth grade it is offered as an elective. . Homemaking helps prepare girls for QQ? 1 N- w . problem-solving in domestic living. Girls sss study sewing, cooking, interior decorating, and hygiene. 5 SSE Typing is an elective for eighth and ninth grade students. Eighth graders take Personal Typing. Ninth grade students have their choice of either Pers onal Typing or Advanced Personal Typing. Drama introduces students to creative expression through action, words, and the basic emotions. The course is offered to eighth and ninth graders. Stu- dents create original skits in class, using their knowl- edge stud of the world around them. In advanced drama, ents performa cutting from a play for their finals.
