Coach Russ Young graduated from the U. of Calif. at Santa Barbara. While attending the Univ. , he played varsity football as a tackle. His coaching career started in T955 when he came to Fohi. We have had the privilege of having Mr. Young coach Football for 9 years, being head coach for 5 years. ln previous years, he has also coached wrestling and track . Coach Walt O'Farrell attended North Texas State for 4 years. His first coaching job was at a high school in Panhandle, Texas. Before coming to Fohi, he taught English and Social Studies at Fontana Junior High School where he also coached. Coach O'Farrell came to Fohi 4 years ago where he became varsity line coach. Coach Dean Renfro, the backfield coach, is a graduate of North Texas State where he played flankerback for 4 years. He then went on to earn his masters degree at Colorado State Uni- versity. While at Washburn, Coach Dudney played halfback. He was head coach in Kansas for 3 years and was assistant coach at Colorado for a year. He is now the defensive back coach . Mr. Dudney is also helping Coach Zamski in swimming and hopes to continue here at Fohi.

FOHI I5 Victor Valley Joe Waleszonia U61 breaks away from a would-be tackler as Rich Downing delivers a block. Fohi came from a 3-0 deficit at half-time to defeat the Victor Valley Jackrabbits, I5-3, behind the strong running of halfback Joe Waleszonia. Waleszonia scored on runs of 38 and 9 yards. Bill Pell was also a standout on offense as was Jerry Peterson who consistently picked up important yardage. Peterson added the only extra point. Leading the offensive line was Richard Downing as he threw key blocks that sprung Waleszonia on his TD romps. Fohi's defense put on a strong second half surge that halted the Jackrabbits offensive game. Glen Cochrane tackled the Victor Valley quarterback in the end zone for a safety and Fohi's finale points of the evening.
