DOCTOR SELDON Carousel unfolds a strange and beautiful love story, told in unforgettable songs from the hearts and pens of Rogers and Hammerstein . Lovers walk the rocky Maine shores, sailors sing of the sea, townsfolk gather for a gay clambake, and life and death are viewed from a typical New England heaven. The time is IB73---the place, a small town on the coast of Maine. Billy Bigelow, hand- some and proud barker for the carousel in the local amusement park, and Julie Jordan, a lovely young girl who works in a factory, fall in love and go off together, though it cost them both their iobs. When they return, married, they face a hostile town. In the difficult months that follow, Billy is unable to get work and Julie becomes pregnant. Finally it is June, time to get ready for the first clambake of the season. But Billy is desperate and bitter, and agrees to join his unsavory pal , Jigger, in a robbery. The robbery goes awry, and Billy, trying to escape, falls on his own knife and is killed. Fifteen years later Billy, looking down from heaven, sees that all is not well with his child, now an attractive but rejected young girl. He returns to earth for a day, makes himself visible to his daughter, and gives her a star. This star, together with BiIIy's father-ly advice, brings the girl new joy and assurance. KX We Is there anyone there? MBI, In .lUNIOR CUISS PIAY This smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages. The ingenious---plot tells how novelist Charles Condomine invites into his placid country home, an eccentric, breezy lady medium in order to learn the language of the occult. Little does Charles or his lovely second wife, Ruth, dream that the seance staged by the medium will summon back Charles' first wife, now passed over for seven years. But the lady from beyond, still handsome, still mischievious, appears a wraith who torments Charles by reminding him of their days and nights together. Only Charles can see or hear her. A floating vase, handed to her out of thin air, finally convinces Ruth that Charles is not losing his mind-- that his first wife is indeed in the room . The first wife has a ghostly plot in mind, if she can get Charles into an automobile accident and make a ghost of him, life in the spirit world will have more appeal to her. Mistakes occur, however, and it is Ruth who takes the fatal automobile ride and passes on--- only to return with the first wife to plague the utterly bewildered bigamist!
