Fultonville Union Free and High School has been organized under the Regents of the State of New York for over 35 years, and has maintained a high standard of excellence in the scholastic attainments of its pupils. The present building was constructed in 1923-24. It is of modern, fireproof construction, and well equipped with sanitary toilets, showers, drinking fountains and other conveniences. The combination auditorium-gymnasium has a seating capacity of 300. All the high school dramatic and musical productions are staged there. It is also a social center during noon hours and activity periods. The school library has recently been remodeled. New library tables, chairs, desks, and shelving have been purchased. It is supplied with a large selection of books for reference and supplementary reading. It is constantly under the supervision of a licensed librarian. We subscribe to many current magazines, some of which are directly related to courses of study offered. A New York paper is received each day. Our laboratory was also remodeled during the summer of 1936 so that a com- plete course in chemistry could be offered. Now the laboratory is equipped so that chemistry, physics, biology, physical geography, general science, and mechanical drawing may be taught. The commercial department is well equipped with the necessary imple- ments for the teaching of the varied subjects offered. New typewriters are purchased each year so that the whole group of machines are modern and in excellent condition. To further social activities and to develop the correct social attitudes and ideals a fine radio with a phonograph attachment was added. To further improve the quality of instruction, a 16 mm. sound on film pro jector is to be purchased. This machine will be portable so that teaching films may be shown in the various classrooms. The gymnasium is used constantly by the physical education classes and is equipped for that type of work. Every child physically able in school from the fourth grade through the twelfth takes physical education two per- iods a week. Physical defects which can be corrected through exercise are treated by the director. Two modern buses, inspected periodically, provide transportation to and from school for all non-resident pupils. They are also used on athletic trips whenever possible. These trips are all supervised by faculty members and are sponsored jointly by the Board of Education and the Athletic Associa- tion. During the winter months a school cafeteria is maintained, providing each child with the opportunity to secure a warm dish for a few cents. CLERMONT CLARION
