Class of 1953 As we walk to the stage of the aud1tor1urn for the last ttme to get our d1plomas a V1V1d recollectton of our years here at Follansbee Hlgh passes before us Our lust year 1n Follansbee H1gh School proved to be exc1t1ng when we made our debut before the student body by grvmng our flISl assembly program Our mark 1n the world of sc1ence was begun when as e1ghth graders we won an award from Current Sc1ence and Av1at1on Magazme Margaret Kelley and Edd1e D1P1no were selected as the outstandmg elghth graders Freshmen at last' Our b1g step from Iumor to Semor I-hgh was successful as our basketball team coached by T I H1ll won the t1tle as Sectlonal Champs Io Ann Dav1s and Edd1e D1P1no acted as our f1ISl representahves to the Student Counc1l Delores Gaydos and Edd1e D1P1no relgned as the most popular Freshmen As Sophomores we were 1o1ned by students from Edgewood and St Anthony s Schools Manlyn Allen and Ellen F ante were chosen as reserve cheerleaders Ross S1s1nn1 and Manlyn Allen were voted the most popular Sophomores Ehzabeth Compagna placed second 1n the state w1th her entry rn the essay contest Freedoms Open Door When we entered our Iurnor year we selected Sam Lada Frank Manno and Mary lean Fante as our Class Ofhcers Antonette C1CCOIeu1 and Sam Lada rergned as K1ng and Queen over the Iun1or Class carnlval Ross S1smn1 carelll Allen Bogarad and Iacquelyn Sweany starred as solorsts 1n the Operetta H M S Pmazfomre Rosemary LGWIS portrayed Corhss Archer 1n the Iumor Class product1on Meet Corl1ss Archer We entered our Sen1or year w1th our goal close at hand Allen Bogarad and Antonette C1CCG'.l'ell1 were chosen as Co Ed1tors of The Ingot To gu1de us through our hnal year we chose Glenn Kocher Ray Bodley and Cathenne Bodnar as our Class Ofhcers Co-captams of the football team were Allen Bogarad and Ross S1S1I1I11 Manlyn Allen rergned as second Homecommg Queen of F ollansbee H1gh Because of h1s athletlc ab1l1ty and sp1r1ted fI1e1'1dl11'19SS Sam Lada was named captam of the basketball team The Iunror Town Meet1ng speakers were Ehzabeth Compagna Ol1ve lane Coker B1ll H111 and.
