In this dedication we, the Senior Class of Fred T. Foard, have attempted to show our appreciation for the many things you have done to make our years in high school more memorable and pleasant. Later we shall remember your devoted teaching, friendship, and faithful service as one of our ball coaches. You have impressed upon us the value of citizenship and fair play in the game of life. Furthermore, you have inspired in us the desire for learning. You have won the admira- tion of your fellow faculty members and students. As a tribute to this outstanding educator and sportsman, we fondly dedicate the 1962 QUATRA-LOG. Mr. Reynolds, his wife Doris, and son Stevie 5 J einember . . . Foard Tigers took the field for the 1961 season, boasting a roster ol thirty-five. The football school held the week of August 14-19 aided in recruiting and preparing freshmen who would replace players that had graduated the year before. Coach George Reynolds stated that a lack of depth at most positions and an in- experienced line held the Bengals to a 1-9 record. Although Glenn Jarrett helped the team with occasional punting later in the season, his absence, because of a previous injury, was strongly felt. The Tigers look forward to a brighter season in '62, though six members of the team will graduate. The team finished in seventh place, but one member, co-captain Melvin Coulter made the HICKORY DAILY RECORD all- conference team. 85 T aseSaJ 1960-1961 LAST ROW: Left to Right: Norris Buff, Allen Biggerstaff, Ted Cody, Bill Heavner, Donald Willis, Bobby Jarrett, Robert Abernathy, Wayne Punch, Dwight Stallings. The 1961 Tigers' Baseball Club ended a disappointing season with a 2-8 record. An inexperienced pitching staff and a weak offense were the damaging factors. Several of the games, however, were close. Com- ments Coach Hugh Peeler, The team had a deadly defense which accounted for more double plays than any other team in the con- ference had. Outlooks for the coming year appear much better, since the team lost only two players by graduation. On the pitcher's mound. FOARD HIGH SCHOOL SONG The cheerleaders demonstrate their school spirit.
