All Flushing High School students, whether or not they are the I can't draw a straight line type, take two terms of Required Art. Grades are based on efforts, rather than talent. For those students who can draw a straight line, the Art Department offers courses in Basic Art and Advanced Art. Artistic talents play a prime role in extra- curricular activities at Flushing High School. At rally time, political parties stake claims on either side of the halls. Art com- mittees gather in basements, producing eye- catching design and jargon to solicit party slates. The finest art work of Flushing High students is published each term in Folio, the creative literary and art publication.
