.xdcfiuified Athletic and extra-curricular activities have at all times assumed a sig- nificant plaec in the life of a Flushing High School student. They give the student the opportunity of developing his talents and spending his time in a manner which is profitable to himself and his school. Sports arouse in the student an interest in our players and games, which has been the main factor in bringing about our celebrated school spirit. Our wide field of sports fosters habits of fair play that will remain with us as we go out into the world to new achievements. The Forum and Folio serve the dual purpose of providing the student with enjoyment and giving him the opportunity to have actual experience in writing and publishing. We who have toiled to add to the captivating charm of the Forum or Folio appreciate the drudgery that is represented in the work of our fellow students. The student with excess energy aspires to become a member of Arista, the Service League, Victory Corps, or Mimeograph Squad. The members of these organizations contribute their time, ability, and knowledge unsel- fishly for the benefit of the school without asking for commendation or reward. The Chorus, Band, and Orchestra are organizations which provide an effective means of furthering our appreciation of music. They give us an opportunity to display our musical talents to satisfy not only ourselves but also those who, perhaps, are not musically gifted. All these activities have given us immediate pleasure and have fostered character traits which will stay with us and will bear the stamp of Flushing High School ideals. 34
