, ,f Q , , A CDR EUGENE J. ERNER, USN COMMA DING OFFI ER 20 NOVEMBER l972 TO PRESENT Commander Eugene J. Erner, USN, was born on 28 June I932 in East DuBu- que, Illinois. He enlist in the United States Navy on I4 June l95O and progressed from Airman Recruit to Aviation Electronics Technician First Class. He was in- tegrated through Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign on I5 August I956. ' Commander Erner served in USS Brush CDD-7455 as CIC Officer from I956 to l958, and was then assigned to Staff, Commander Destroyer Squadron 9 from l958 to l96O. From l96O to l962 he served as Officer-in-Charge of Mobile Elec- tronics Technical Unit 3 in Japan, then from l963 to I964 he was assigned as the Weapons Officer in USS Wilkinson CDL-SD. From I964 to l967 he was Officer-in-Charge of USS Alvin C. Cockrell CDE- 366D, following which he served a one year tour with United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, Naval Advisory Group, as Assistant Fleet Com- mand Advisor. He then served as Executive Officer of USS Black CDD-6665 from l968 to l969. Commander Erner entered the Naval Postgraduate School in l969, and graduated in December l97l with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations. Prior to his assuming command of USS Floyd B. Parks on 20 November I972, Commander Erner was Commanding Officer of USS Perkins CDD-8775.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER Lieutenant Commander Joseph Keeley, USN,isa I959 graduate ofthe United LQDR JQSEPH KEELEY, USN States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation he reported y l aboard the USS Beale CDDE-47D where he served as First Lieutenant, ASW Of- ficer, Engineering Officer and Operations Officer. In I963 he reported to the Of- ficer Training Division at the U.S. Fleet Sonar School, Key West, Florida. Lieute- nant Commander Keeley was assigned to the USS Bauer CDE-lO25D in I967 as Ex- ecutive Officer and Navigator. In I969 he reported to the Staff of Commander Coastal Surveillance Force CCTF-IISD, Republic of Vietnam, for duty as Operations Officer. Upon completion of this tour he reported to the U.S. Atlantic Fleet Anti- T Submarine Warfare Tactical School in Norfolk, Virginia, for duty as an instructor. ln November I97I he became Executive Officer of the USS Floyd B.
