Buffaloes Go 3-7 In Tough New River District Three cheers for the Varsity football team! This year was their best year ever, as far as score is concerned. The team had a 3-7 record, and stood eighth in the New River District which is the highest that FCHS ' s football team has ever attained. Though this placing was due to team effort, two Seniors have been outstanding. C. M. Wimmer, no doubt one of Floyd ' s best quarterbacks, with 3,207 career passing yards, 19 career T. D. passes, 124 out of 224 passes completed and 53% completion record leaves this year. Also leaving this year is Elmer Turman, responsible for the reception end of Wimmer ' s record. Turman set a school record and a New River District reception record with 53 receptions, which is just 38 shy of the national record. Twelve Seniors leave the team this year. They have been playing football through their high school years and have made it what it is now. They leave with the knowledge that they have contributed much to the spirit of FCHS. C. M. Wimmer and Elmer Turman led the Buffs to a satisfying season. Row 1: W. Harris, E. Turman, W. Conner, C. Wimmer, D. Spence, M. Starkey. Row 2: R. Weeks, T. Bell, L. Phillips, E. Williams, D.
