The Remedial Reading program uses audio-visual aids, such as filmstrips, tape recorders, and word games to increase reading ability. Portraits of pilgrims aid seniors in visualizing Chaucer ' s tale of a pilgrimage to the shrine of Thomas a Becket. During the two semesters of FCHS ' s school year, all students find themselves participating in an E nglish course. Whether it be as eighth graders, interpreting the tragic life of Evangeline, or as seniors, becoming ac- quainted with the heroic deeds of Beowulf, all acquire a valuable knowledge of both literature and grammar I through an extensive five-year study. For those students with specific interests in English I fields, the curriculum includes three electives— speech, I journalism, and remedial reading. WHAT’S IN STORE English IV students take advantage of extra time to work on grammar assignments. 18
