When this happens, it is the guidance counselor who grasps hold of the individual and ' skillfully leads him through the darkness of indecision. Leafing through scores of manila folders and college related materials, the counselors seek solutions to un- answered questions found in the world of youths. These ■ questions may concern a class, a future job, or the everyday frustrations of life. Whatever perplexing doubts 1 a student may have, the guidance counselor is always ready to assist him. The Manpower Development and Training representative captivates a large audience on College Day. : 3 Performing one of her many duties, Mrs. Albert distributes booklets describing College Boards. Miss Dobyns, counselor for underclassmen, outlines the required courses fo an eighth grader. 16

ESTUDIO, COGNOSCO,” REPLY LANGUAGE STUDENTS Courses offered in the field of foreign languages are limited to Spanish and Latin. Students may enroll in these elective courses for two consecutive years; thus, the foreign language program at FCHS can be a four- year study for any individual of the school. First-year students master vocabulary, conjugations, and basic sentence structures, while second-year students translate Roman mythology or Spanish history. From experiences gained through these studies, stu- dents develop a better understanding of the language, customs, and people of ancient Rome and modern Mexico.
