HDRNETS RECEIVE NEW CCACH Q The overall record for the Hornets was 14-8. They competed in two tournaments, one in Alice and the other in Bishop. At Alice the lady Hornets took third place and Susan Okenfuss was awarded All-Tourney. In the Bishop action Marcia Boyer received the All-Tourney honors while the team placed fourth. All the volleyball players this year were coached by Vicki Avant, a High School rookie coach from Floresville Junior High. She established herself here at Flour Bluff by producing two winning teams this year, the Varsity who placed second in district and the Junior Varsity who took the title of district Co- Champs.

LADY HDRNETS TAKE SECOND IN DISTRICT 5' 35 This year's girls' Varsity Volleyball Team took second f place in the district 15-3A race with a 9-3 record. Two of their losses were to the first place team, Gregory-Pom land and one to Rockport. The Hornets' victories were against West Oso, Tuloso Midway, Beeville and Sinton, defeating each of them twice, and Rockport once. During district competition these Lady Hornets never ceased to impress fans and three of them received hon- ors for their outstanding abilities. CFIOWNED DISTRICT CG-CHAMPS The Girls' Junior Varsity Volleyball Team reached the rank of champions when they captured the title of District Co-Champs this season. The team powered by all Sophomores share their title with Gregory-Portland. In their two outings against G-P they won once and they did the same against Sinton. All the other teams that the Lady Hornets confronted in district play they defeated twiceg Rockport, West Oso, Tuloso Midway, and Beeville. Although in J.V. competition All-District players are not selected, Laura Gentry and Robin Beauregard managed to receive high honors for their abilities. In the Alice J.V. Tourna- ment, Beauregard and Gentry were awarded All-Tourney and at the Freer Varsity Tournament Beauregard was selected at an All-Tourney player.
