DR. DOAK S. CAMPBELL OUR PRESIDENT Florida State University is proud to have as its president one of the nation ' s outstanding educators. Dr. Campbell is recognized as one of America ' s leading curriculum authorities and his book Curric- ulum Development-, under joint authorship with Dr. H. L. Caswell, has been the most widely used book on curriculum. The FSU President has also devoted a great deal of time to studies in higher education. He has conducted and published numerous surveys of higher institutions in the southern states. In 1937 he was chosen consultant to President Roosevelt ' s Adv isory Committee on Education. He is immediate past president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. At FSU there is much evidence of President Campbell ' s leadership. In addition to the tremendous building program and enrollment increases, perhaps the most significant step has been development from four major academic divisions in 1947 to eleven in 1951. These major divisions are schools of education, home economics, music, graduate, library training and service, social work, business, jour- nalism, public administration, nursing, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Master ' s degrees may be earned in all divisions and doctoral degrees in music, home economics, English, American Liter- ature, Spanish, education, and speech.
