THE GOVERNOR . . Governor Fuller Warren of Florida was born on October 3, 1 905, the son of Charles Ryan Warren and Grace Fuller Warren. A native of Blounts- town, Calhoun County, in Western Florida, the governor-to-be attended Blountstown public schools and the former Thomas Industrial Insti- tute at DeFuniak Springs, Florida. From 1922 to 1927 he attended the University of Florida, at Gainesville. During this period, when he was 20, Warren was elected to the State Legislature from Calhoun County. From 1927 to 1929 he attended Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tennessee, from which he received his LL.B. degree. He chose Jacksonville, one of the state ' s largest cities, as the field for lay practice, and in o short time gained local fame as a successful trial law- yer. In the Spring of 1948 he won the Democratic nomination as Governor of Florida over seven other candidates after an intensive campaign that carried him to all parts of the state. Gov- ernor Warren is a Mason, a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and Junior Chamber of Commerce and many other civic and social organizations.
