James C. Rogers Award ■ 1988 On February 8, 1988 the student body of Florida Southern College voted on who would be named the recipient of the 1988 James C. Rogers Award. Montez Dudley Williams was an- nounced as the winner at the Founder ' s Week Coronation of Miss Southern on February 16, 1988. Williams, a native of the Bahamas and a business major, has actively par- ticipated in many campus organiza- tions throughout his years at FSC. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the fraternity which recognizes leadership among both students and faculty. During his senior year he was the SGA Independent Male Senator, Sigma Fho Epsilon Secretary, a member of the Pre-Ministerial Students and a Phi Mu Sorority Big Brother. Williams participated in many Vag- abond productions and was a member of Alpha Psi Omega. He served as both president and vice-president of the In- ternational Students Associations. In being named the recipient of the James C. Rogers Award, Williams and the other nominees had to qualify by having a minimum grade point aver- age of 3.0, have at least 92 credit hours and show exemplary character and leadership in at least three areas of campus life. 1988 Honor Walk The highest honor given to any stu- dent of Florida Southern College is to be named Honor Walk Student. This stu- dent is a person who has achieved ex- cellence in academics, campus lead- ership, and community service. The 1988 Honor Walk student is Randi Bur- nette. Burnette, an education major from Lakeland, was the recipient of numer- ous awards throughout her years at Florida Southern. She received the Freshman Honor Award, the Frank Chandler Outstanding Sophomore Award,and the Burnette Gilbert Junior Award. Burnette was also a Junior Advisor, a J. A. Chairman, a Judicial Board Alter- nate, a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa of which she was the president, vice-president and sec- retary over a number of years. She was active in Alpha Chi Ome- ga Sorority, was a Sigma Chi Little Sis- ter, a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Order of Omega and was nominated to Who ' s Who in American Colleges and Universities. The accomplishments and contri- butions of Randi Burnette to Florida Southern can in no way be completely listed in this book. She in every way re- presents the best in what each and ev- ery college student seeks. Florida Southern College is very proud to name Randi Lee Burnette the 1988 Honor Walk Student. I S? .
