This is the fiftieth edition of the INTERLACHEN; fifty years of recording the history of Florida Southern College from its earliest growth, through its stages of develop- ment as an academic institution and campus community, to its position today. We pass along with pride the legacy of the INTERLACHEN to the editors of the next fifty years. Having had the foresight and interest to start a yearbook at Florida Southern, Dr. James D. Hurt was the editor of the first INTERLACHEN in 1924. He is a rare person whose zeal for all that life has to offer is still as apparent as it was in his days as a student here. The 1974 INTERLACHEN staff wishes to recognize and give a special thanks to Dr. Hurt for his outstanding efforts which has made this fiftieth anniversary edition possible. Dr. James D. Hurt
