FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE LAKELAND, FLORIDA LUDD M SPIVEY PRESIDENT January 24 1956 To the Students of Florida Southern College This Interlachen comes to you from two of our capable students, Robert Frazier and Marion Daniel, and their assistants. That they have done their work well is made plain by the book itself. I know I speak for every faculty member and student when I say that we are deeply indebted to them. By means of this page, too, I want to express my great appreciation to all the students for their loyalty and fine support. No college president could ask for better cooperation from his students. After all, a college is a spirit and therefore no greater than the spirit of its students. If I were asked to name one thing that accounts for Florida Southern ' s success, I would say that it is the spirit that obtains on our campus. Ludd Mvrl Spivey, President Florida Southern College A. B., M. A., B.D., University of Chicago ; LL.D., Birmingham Southern; Ed. D., Stetson University It is only fitting that in this, the 1936 Interlachen, we pay homage to one whose dreams and inspired guidance has been largely responsible for the rapid progress of Southern during the past years. 1935- ' 36 has been a banner year at Southern. She has been admitted to the Southern Association of Accredited Colleges and Secondary Schools. As this is written a new girls ' Dormitory is under construction. The future looms bright. Southern looks up and on, and we, the students, wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere and grateful appreciation to Dr. Ludd M.
