THE PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE JRemavial (Eoiicgc JJlnriba formal an OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT Deal seniors: It is always a source of gieat joy foi me to see the once awkward boy 01 giil who comes to Florida Normal as a fieshman, leave some four yeazs later as an a- dioit man or woman ready to meet whatever challenge the world might force upon him. Amid the joy that one receives from an experience such as the one man- tioned above, there comes a bit of sadness-the break- ing of ties, ties that you have woven into my life and the life of the collage. You, the class of 1958, are now commencing on the scene. Your are sharing the same experience of many other graduates who are embarking on a new journey in- to this challenging age. We are counting on you and your gang for more than my gang and I have done. I am not apoligizing for our contribution, because we have given Salk Vaccine and Sputnik we feel however, that you have a greater opportunity to make your in- fluence felt. Your class has ability, scholarship and leadership; therefore, we feel reasonable sure that in the not too distant future you will have transplanted theseto larger and more significant settings; thereby reaching more people and rendering a greater service. Your brother ana sisters of the Florida Normal Family are making outstanding contributions in all walks of life throughout these United States. Accept them as models . As you go into this world of challenge and change, bear- ing the imprints of our educational efforts, we firmly hope that your standard will be guided by our basic philosophy and that your years spent here will be perpet- uated by the memories and purposeful activities of which you were a part. We shall miss you, but our prayers and our good wishes will go with you.
