Even more, these books contained the secret of Ilfe here on earth, and greater than that, eternal life Itself. I plcked up these books whlch were contalned In one volume and began to read aloud. Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nlcodemus, a member of the Jewlsh rullng councll. He came to Jesus at nlght and sald, Rabbi, we know uou are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the mlraculous slgns uou are doing If God were not wlth hIm. In replu, Jesus answered, I tell uou the truth, unless a man ls born agaln, he cannot see the kingdom of God. But, sald Nlcodemus, How can a man be born when he Is old? Surelu he cannot enter a second tlme Into hls mother's womb to be bornl Jesus answered, You must be born agaln For God so loved the world that he gave hls one and onlu Son, that whoever belleves In hlm shall not perish but have everlasting Ilfe. For God dld not send hls Son Into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through hlm. lJJhoever believes In hlm Is not condemned, but whoever does not belleve stands condemned alreadu because he has not belleved In the name of God's one and onlu Son .... lUhoever puts hls falth ln the Son has eternal llfe, but whoever rejects the Son wlll not see that llfe, for God's wrath remalns on hlm. Flt thls polnt the woman seemed to be glued to everu word she heard. Turnlng the pages, I read another passage. For what I recelved I passed on to uou as of flrst Importance: that Chrlst dled for our slns accordlng to the scrlptures, that he was burled, that he was ralsed on the thlrd dau accordlng to the scrlptures, . . LUhen I had flnlshed, I looked up and sald, To put uour falth In the Son means to trust In who He ls iGod In the fleshj and what He dld Cwent to the cross and pald for our slns, was burled and rose agaInJ. The woman Interrupted, I bellevel Jesus Is the Chrlst. Then the woman who was once fllled wlth despair, smlled and exclaimed, lUhat a reason for UVlNGI lllhu am I lIvIng? Have uou often asked uourself thls questlon? Have uou wondered If uou were ever golng to flnd anu real answers? H woman once told me that she too wondered what Ilfe was all about. Being confused and afrald, she searched for the answers through sclence, psuchologu, education, nature, and rellglon. Unable to flnd the answer through anu of these thlngs, she declded there was no real answer and Ilfe was onlu an awful accldent. Vet llfe, existence Itself, speaks of the absolute necessltu of a master deslgner. Depression and despalr followed her frultless search. She sought relIef In manu various medlcatlons untll she was no longer cognlzant of the realltu of slmple dallu llvlng. Looklng Into thls woman's face, I could actuallu feel the emptlness and hopelessness she was experlenclng. Llke a pllot flulng through heavu fog, she was lost, splrallng earthward wlth no Instrument panel to gulde her to safetu. Humanlu speaklng, I had nothlng, absolutelu nothlng to offer her. I told her that I could not help, but there was One who could. Her eues seemed to sau she could not endure one more hoax or dead-end street. She perked up when I explalned It would not be necessaru to spend anu moneu or hours of tlme waltlng of see thls One. She showed greater Interest when I further explalned that there was a volume of books, anclent books, wrltten about thls Person who could fulflll all her needs. lJJhen the woman found that these books were not onlu centered around one Person, but that theu were wrltten bu manu dlfferent men at varulng tlmes and places Cwhlch should have caused deflnlte confllctsb and uet each account colnclded perfectlu wlth the other, she became Intenselu Interested. There was more. I showed her that sclentlflcollu theu were perfectlu accurate, and where theu spoke on medlclne, theu were completelu correct. These books contalned remarkable predlctlons of future events Cprophecuj, which came to pass preclselu as theu were detalled. Through hundreds of uears of hlstorlcal events, the prophecies alwaus rang true wlthout even the sllghtest error.
