Students from all over the state come to TEC to take this program since it is the only one of its kind in South Carolina. Upon graduation, students take an F.A.A. examina- tion prior to employment. How high is your electricity bill? The Air Conditioning and Refrigerator curriculum at TEC has decided to do something about it! They have added a new course called Solar Energy. The students designed and built a Solar Energy Unit that has the capability of heat- ing 20 gallons of water from 40OF to 1400 F in 10 minutes and producing enough electricity to burn a 24-volt lightbulb. The cost of the unit was ap- proximately S900, and the students plan to design a unit next year to provide enough electricity for an entire household including its heating.

Therefore it is no surprise that stu- dent enrollment in the Auto-Diesel curriculum at TEC has tripled over the past three years.
