How high is your electricity bill? The Air Conditioning and Refrigerator curriculum at TEC has decided to do something about it! They have added a new course called Solar Energy. The students designed and built a Solar Energy Unit that has the capability of heat- ing 20 gallons of water from 40OF to 1400 F in 10 minutes and producing enough electricity to burn a 24-volt lightbulb. The cost of the unit was ap- proximately S900, and the students plan to design a unit next year to provide enough electricity for an entire household including its heating.
