Barbara Evans, Greta Gordon, Leatrice Robin- , Barbara Sandrock, Jean Ann Mannon, Jeanne Koepfer, sky, Helen Crane, Ruth Klein. Audrey Jongbloed. SOPHOIVIORES This year marks the half-way point in the college life of the half century class of 1950. As Sophomores, they have shown themselves lively and capable, and always ready to pass from one undertaking to another. They started the Freshmen off in the height of fashion with the hazing new look. The day of style was climaxed with a delicious box supper in Haydn. At Stunt Night, they did a bit of map rearranging by taking Mather to Tennessee in Annie Get Your Diploma. The first days of Spring were ushered in with a gala tempo by the Frosh- Soph Hop at the Cleveland Hotel, at which a good time was had by both of the underclasses. When Spring was over and Summer was nigh, they played hostess to Mather mothers as chairmen of May Day. And then, before they even knew it, exams were behind them and the Class of '50 were official Juniors and went home to rest before beginning their days as upperclassmen.

HE second movement, a more sombre melody, resounds with the calm, hesi- tant effect of wariness and uncertainty. The theme has been created, but its development remains in its infancy, the tempo changes as it progresses to further diversify the original theme of the symphony. , Similarly, the Sophomores continue college life determined to achieve suc- cessg they have followed, but now are finding the responsibility to lead as well as to follow. Discouragement abounds, and they progress cautiously in their continual activity. The role is a new one, a difficult one, and they, like the second movement of a symphony, may falter and wonder if they can achieve what is expected of them. A President .,.... ,...
