She is no archaic figureg she is no forgotten symbol of ages gone, of ages dulled beneath the aura of a love- lier, more appealing present. She is the eternal eidolan of youth, the spirit of faith, of purity, of undaunted ever ad- vancing progress, joan of Arc, the little peasant girl, joan of Arc, the Savior of France! l-low incongruous, seemingly. And yet, what exquisite patterns have been woven out of obscurity! In the life of this maid, in her all- embracing love of country, of ideals, and of the divine essence of things, she
