It involves final projects, final exams, last debates, signing memory books and autograph sheets, fitting caps and gowns, locker cleanout, rehearsal, and finally, baccalaureate and commencement. The graduating class of 1985 featured a record number of awards and scholarships, just as the class had excelled in both academics and athletics throughout the year. Winning the first two games, tables turned and resulted in a loss of the next four games. Wolf spirit prevailed, though; the Pack bounced back to victory in the last two games. Ending a long term battle, they captured the Shriners’ Cup. This meant that they kept the trophy as a result of defeating Olney three out of the last five years. The varsity squad consisted of one senior and three underclassmen, and the remaining were juniors. In the Regional the Wolfgals were handed a heart break loss from Louisville: 16-14, 13-15, 14-16, 15-8, 12-15. They accomplished things that would show people they were on their way to the top. The Wolfgals made great efforts this season in their climb up the ladder to success. They won the Regional for the first time and were on their way to Sectionals. The Wolfgals fought a good battle, but they could not manage to win the war. Their goal was cut short but not forgotten. Their hopes are still high, for future seasons. Wolfgal teammates anxiously watch Janet Krutsinger go for two more. Successful Season Ever! Smile for the camera. Mary Beth! The seniors of the track team took on the great responsibility of helping the coach, sometimes running the practices themselves. Coach Welch felt that he has learned a lot this year, but he also feels that with the young team he had this year, there will be more kids participating in the state meets in the future. The quest for anybody in track is to compete in the state track meet. Roy Keith Estheimer and Steve Gragert represented our school in this year’s boys’ state track meet. Roy competed in the boys’ 100 and 200 meter dash. While our own “Carl Lewis,” Steve Gragert, participated in the long jump. 5 inches and counting .. Ed hurdles to victory. Renee watches Karen pitch a fast one. Just what do you think you're doing?!” The Wolfgals' Softball winning season concluded with a regional championship. A well-rounded team of fielders and hitters, led by Deanna Wagner as pitcher, came through in the clutches to win the key games. The championship, the first for softball, was the result of hard work and dedication by Coach Porter and the team. A hard hitting team from Stew-Stras spelled an end to hopes in the sectional and the season as well. Deanna Wagner — Best ERA, Renee Phelps — Most Improved, Janet Krutsinger — Best Batting Avg., Kari Wood — Most RBI's, Rhonda Randall — Record Walks. Good catch!!! 44 Wolves’ Mine Win Regional Championship! Row 1: Rodney Greenwood. Brent Winka, Jeff Miglin, Troy Kurtz, Tim Pearce. Shannon Hosick. Geff Holland, and Jeff Kirk. Row 2: John Koenig. Tony Woomer, Scott Stepanich. Geb Borders. Tom Krutsinger, John Wilson. Ed Perry, Coach Jim Miglin, Stat Girls Annette Hubble and Jenny Miglin. The Wolves 1985 season began on a sour note as they lost their first 2 games. Though down, they were never out as they went on to a winning season, featuring second place in the conference and the regiona I championship. Behind an outstanding pitching season for Tom Krutsinger, a strong defense coupled with good hitting proved the key to success for a team that wasn’t even supposed to Gotcha??!! be in contention for titles. Following the successful regional, one more win before the Eldorado encounter spelled defeat to end a super year for the Baseball Wolves!! Jeff Miglin — Highest Bat ting Avg. Geb Borders — Most RBI’s John Koenig — Best Fielding Avg. Tom Krutsinger — Lowest Tom shows what he does best — STRIKE ’EM CXJT! ERA He's out!!! Seniors Dominate Boys’ Tennis Smirky grin from Greg Sefton, after winning 1st at Olney Invitational. The 1985 tennis team started slowly, but ended the year playing good tennis, capturing 2 of the last 3 matches. Andy Powless once again advanced to state and also captured the NEC singles championship that eluded him last year. The Wolves ended with a record of 4-6 with 3 matches being rained out. With 6 of the top 8 being seniors, the Wolves will have to work hard to be competitive next year. kow I: Bekin Youngolood, Shannon Orel, Wayne Allison, Kevin Wilson, Andy Powless, Greg Sefton, and Karl Kramer. Harstan meets final deadline Tyler Anderson adds his signature to the autograph page, a fund raiser for the Harstan. What does it take to make a good yearbook? A diligent staff, a dedicated editor and an enthusiastic adviser. This year was no exception as the Harstan staff worked hard to meet deadlines and make this yearbook successful. Editor, Kim Keller and Associate Editor, Paula Cooper attended a yearbook seminar at SIG-Carbondale in July to gain original ideas for this year’s Harstan. The Harstan's biggest fund raiser of the year was sponsoring the second annual Snow King and Queen Dance. A big smile from Donna Brewer as she buys her yearbook.
