Council members also donated their time selling popcorn in order to raise money for the center. After searching through old records for alumni who were graduated in years ending in one, the banquet, coronation, dance, and parade committees produced an unforgettable 1971 Homecoming with the theme Cartoons in Review? The Council changed the traditional Thursday night Homecom- ing banquet to Friday night in order to make it strictly an alumni affair. The sale of more than 500 booster buttons for the Flora Wolves and a student-faculty basketball game were the Coun- cil's largest money-making projects. A new plaque was dedicated to the school by the Student Council in memory of former students who were killed or died. Besides officially directing all school elections, the Student Council also played host to the oncoming freshmen and other visitors to the building. The Council was sponsored by jack Thatcher, vice-princi- pal, with Kye Hemphill, student body president, presiding over all Council meetings. Other officers were Randy Wells, president pro-tem, and Sherry Brooks, secretary-treasurer. A FRIEND IN NEED.
