Enlisted in Army immediately after graduation from Palm Springs High School: sent to Oregon State College for six months' specialized training, then to Ft. Lewis, Wash., for basic. Stamm, '44. Graduated as Navy tail gunner at Norman, Okla. in May, 1945, because of high grades was appointed to officer training school at Marshall, Mo., but the program was interrupted by the termination of hostilities.
