TENNIS TEAM The tennls team of 1924 was the filst one orgamzed for several years In Splte of the lnexperlence of the players and a hard schedule a very successful season was completed The Hrst match of the season sched uled at Mldland was called off because of ram Competlng for the first time aganlst East Hlgh at Saglnaw Flint won by a score of 4 to 4. Although Good lost the first slngles match for Fllnt Ballenger Clement and Koepke won easlly m the remammg slngles Ballenger and Clement won one of the two doubles matches glylng Flmt the VlCtO1W The next match wlth Owosso was lost by a narrow margln due as much to the poor condltxon of the courts as to the plavers In the return match at Fllnt the team proved ltself by turnmg the tables on Owosso and wln nmg 5 to 4 Meetlng the strong Pontlac team runner up ln the state tournament and havlng to play on cement courts Central was beaten declslvely the only time dullng the season Although falllng to take a match It was only by hard play especlally ln the doubles that Pontlac got the declslon The two lemalnlng dual meets played at K6dlSlLY pallx resulted IH a defeat by Mldland and another vxctory over Sagmaw Fasteln The score of the first match was 4 to 2 and of the second 6 to 0 Good and Ballengrel were entered ln the Saglnaw Valley meet at the Canoe club courts ln Qaglnaw Good drew Ovlatt the eyentual NVITIYIL! the seml hnals whele he lost ln an extla set match The season was especlally yaluable IH the deyelopment of mw mcn and ln the experlcnce galned by the playels Only two Good and Clapp W616 lost by graduatlon and wlth the return of Ballen,-:fu Clement and Baldwln and the d.KlLlltl0I1 of sexual othcl men lll school besldes those from list ual s fxeshman team the plospects au good fol a XNIHUIHL season Iam one hun dred fifteen l S , ' . , , - v ' ' , . .
