The ballroom was decorated in silver and blue. The prom was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m., but because the D.J., Chris Maroun, was so good most couples stayed after 11:30. After tuxedos were rented and flowers and tickets were purchased the average cost was $120.00 per couple. Despite the high cost this was the most successful Senior Prom in the Academy's history. This year's seniors started a new tradition by voting for Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Gardener was chosen as 1982's Teacher of the Year 13 seniors graduated with high distinction, 3.5-4.0.
