Students Receive Well Deserved Recognition The Annual Honors Convocation was held Thursday night, June 3, 1982 in Henry Cook Auditorium. 271 students, in grades 9-12 were honored for being on the Honor Roll (3.0-4.0), one, two, or three times. 115 students were also recognized for perfect attendance. The night was filled with many surprises including the Leadership Award, given to seniors Kermit Brooks and Deneen Stevens. The Spirit Award, the Academy's most prestigious award, was received by Rawlan Lillard and Deneen Stevens. Hyatt Is Perfect For Prom Thl Page Above; Scott Ainsworth and Annette Lutzke take time from their meal to pose for a picture Right; Byron Sanders dnd Sheryl Seeley dance with their dates Below; Mr Bateman and his date seem to be enjoying themselves at the 1982 Senior Prom Let the Feeling Flow , was the theme for the 1982 Senior Prom held May 21 at the new Hyatt Regency Hotel. The ballroom was decorated in silver and blue. The prom was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m., but because the D.J., Chris Maroun, was so good most couples stayed after 11:30. After tuxedos were rented and flowers and tickets were purchased the average cost was $120.00 per couple. Despite the high cost this was the most successful Senior Prom in the Academy's history.
