Executive Officer Joe N. Stafford Lieutenant Commander Stafford reported to FLINT in August 1986, having previously served as an Inspector for Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet Propulsion Examining Board, Norfolk, Virginia. He has been with FLINT throughout deployment, myriad inspec- tions, Drydock Phase Maintenance Availability (DPMA), Post DPMA and Refresher Train- ing work-ups. The deployment to Western Pacific and Indian Ocean was the acme of his tour. LCDR Stafford has had prior sea tours aboard USS MILWAUKEE (AOR 2) as Opera- tions Officer, aboard USS COMTEDE GRASSE (DD 974) as Engineer Officer, and aboard USS FRANCIS MARION (LPA 249) as Second Division, Auxiliary and Repair Division Officer. Service ashore include an assignment as Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers Schools Command, Newport, Rhode Island. LCDR Stafford received his commission from Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island, in August 1974. A native of Georgetown, South Carolina and a graduate of the Univer- sity of North Carolina, Lieutenant Commander Stafford is married to the former Caroleen Delores Wilson of Portsmouth, Virginia.
