He had often wondered what had been the fortunes and misfortunes of the members of his class, and now as he relaxed in his cushioned chair, puffing at his pipe, he suddenly became aware of the presence of others-- the whole gang of '55 who, each in his turn, related his story. From them he learned the following: Jack Greene is now the sole owner of the A H Airport, where he owns nothing but jets and rockets, which he himself designed. Joan Gragg and her husband are together at last. They are now living in the State of Washington, where they have recently built a million dollar home. Taylor Garland, whose chief interest was playing baseball, is now playing with the New York Yankees, where he has taken the place of Joe DiMaggio; he has helped the team win five pennants thus far with his brilliant playing. Ann Suttles has just graduated from the Columbia University and is teaching French at the University of North Carolina, James Youngblood has profited so much driving trucks for his father that he has started a trucking line of his own and has a trade with every state in the Union. Jean Baldwin and Rebecca Silvers have achieved their goals. They have be- come nurse’s aides and are employed at the Veteran’s Hospital at Oteen. J.B. Millard has finally reached his goal. After graduating from high school, he married the girl of his dreams and together they operate the Harlem Globtrot- Le Dome ati. Joann Wolfe is now happily married andis living in the State of Texas where she and her husband own a large ranch; they are busy branding cattle every day. Duane Gentle has joined the Navy and has signed up for twenty years. It looks as though he is enjoying the world while scrubbing the decks. Jack Youngblood, who joined the army just after he graduated from high school, has been promoted to four star general, He likes army life so much he has decided to makezaicareer of iit. Christine Thomas and Mary Israel have become registered nurses and are now working at the animal hospital in New York City. Randall Case, who always loved to cook, is now the chief cook and bottle wash- er at Sam’s Drive Inn. Nelson Garren is working for the Salvation Army of Brickton; he finds this more profitable than selling Grit Papers. Opal Pressley and Nell Rice have become beauticians and are the owners of the Pressley and Rice Beauty Salon in Miami, Florida, Wallace Lanning has become the world’s greatest detective, and Sherlock Hol- mes has resigned. Wallace is now working on the ‘‘Case of the Missing Bananas.”’ Annie Sue and Jane McMinn have reached their life’s goals in the WACs. After ten years in service, they still love it, and have decided to make a career of it. Lloyd Hutchinson has become a producer and director for M-G-M Studios and is working on the motion picture, ‘River of No Success.”’ Suddenly Jerry rubbed his eyes, stretched, and yawned. He was awakening from his dream. His pipe had gone out completely and when he looked around, no one was there. Perhaps only part of the dream was true, but at least he had spent a few pleasant moments with the good old class of °55!
