The wheels that were once speeding along together are now about to cease turning. It Is with mixed emotions that we now go back In memory to the years when our wheels were beginning to turn, as seen In general from the eyes of an Individual........every Individual In the Class of 1964. 7th Grade | One---Two---Three---I wonder how many times I will climb these steps In the next six years?----Four---Five—- Will the kids like me up here?---Six----Seven---Eight-.- I am slightly frightened but I will do my best to succeed In winning new friends and rew goals in my school life,---- Nineteen---Twenty----1 hear that Coach Shields and hrs. Cardot will be our class sponsors. Oh, well, I will soon know more about it. Sixty nine students in my class i My goodness, so many that we had to divide into two separate classes. Each class selected its own officers. Big Events of the year: Class tournaments Class party Chapel program 8th Grade--60 Students This year Is going to be wonderful I know. I now know the requirements for study and making satisfactory grades so I have a new outlook on everything. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Barnett are our sponsors0 Big Events: Chapel program Class tournaments—-We won both the boy's and girl's banners. Junior Citizenship Test Golden Horseshoe Test—14 class members took this test. Class party 9th Grade—49 students A Freshman at last I Now I get to be as important as the other upper-classmen. In the month of March I participated in the inter-class tournaments; in fact, almost everyone in my class did. We were thrilled when we were chosen as the best cheering section in the senior high classes. Also in March we presented our Easter Chapel Program. I am glad that we had Mrs. Whitescarver and Mr. Swecker for class sponsors because their kind assistance was very helpful. 10th Grade This school year was exciting as far as school activities went; something to keep me busy all of the time. Class unity is becoming more and more important to each one in my class and I know the remaining two years will hold a load of happiness. Mrs, Cardot and Mr. Findley, our sponsors, were wonderful In participating In all our fun. (Cont.) Chapel program Christmas--party----A Blast I Weiner roast Class tournaments 11th Grade Only forty-two students this year but we surely did make a go of thingso A great load was put on the class officers, on each student and especially on Mrs. Piccolo, our class sponsor. We sincerely thank her for all that she has done, for our class. Work 1 Work i Work i everywhere. First we had the maga zlne campalng which was a success. Then we sold our monthly newspaper The Junior Gazette. The results of the tourna- ments were marvelous but they were not quite as important to us as they had been In the past years. We were using our minds and energies In planning for our Junior-Senior Prom which was held in May, Our theme was Flue Hawaii. It was a great success. Student Honors: Barbara Stout--Top Magazine Salesman Anne Kelley and Kenneth Findley—Attended Know Your State Government Day In Charleston Janice Swecker—Girl's State Kenneth Findley—.Boy's State Paul McKinney. Billy Powell, Kenneth Findley, David Hardman and Gary Watson—Basketball Varsity Team 12th Grade After six years of waiting, hoping, struggling, and dreaming, we have finally made the grade—Seniors at last I We as graduating Seniors, must diligently strive to become better citizens and try to turn with the great wheel of progress. There are two plans to life, one leads to eternal happiness, the other ends in a disrupted, sorry soul. These ways of life are not chosen for us. It is our duty to select the patti we will follow. Graduation Is a beginning and an end for all of us. It terminates the time that we are under the protection and supervision of our elders, and it is a beginning to a new life...a life of Independence. We are no longer children with childish views and Ideas; rather, we are adults with the world facing each and every one of us. Although we are saying farewell, our friendship will con- tinue to live forevero We will always have memories, both happy and sad, of the years gone by5 but most of all we will remember the friends and teachers who have shared these years with us. Thank all of You I With unsteady steps will we take the long walk to receive our diplomas but we know that they will be steady as each of us go our separate ways. Yes. we will now step down from the big wheels of education and walk cur on our own, but our heart will take flight as they meet with success, happiness, and God What a wonderful thing our school life has been, May the rest be as pleasant and may good always win 11 BY-WORDS Ros'ella Bailey—You Know It. In 1959 we entered the ninth grade with the hopes that p r high school years would be filled with success and happiness. Our first year was filled with great excitement. We were just beginning to face reality and become better acquainted with life as teenagers in high school. We had to plan our schedule for the for the following year, and start deciding what we would do in the future so we could plan our schedule. 3efore we knew it our freshman year was completed and we moved up on a new step in life. We had just completed one of the roughest school years of our schooling and we had to face our future and realize the im- portance of an education. We then entered our Sophomore year of high school. This year brought us new challenges. We really felt like an ”inbetween‘?. We were beginning to become acquainted with the other students of F.H.S., because we felt more at home. Our next year in high school was one of the most exciting of all. First of all as members of the Junior Class we had to write a newspaper for the school. Next on our list of projects was the prom. We had a great deal of fun out of preparing this evening for our class and the Seniors and t‘ne evening was one of beauty and fun. We shall always look back on this year of our life with happi- ness „ Soon we entered our Senior year of school. It was our last one. We would soon be out to face our future. But before this was to happen we would go the Junior-Senior Prom and also on our Senior trip. After this would come Graduation Day. This brought an uncertain future for most of us. We are very proud that many of the graduates from Flemington High School go on to further their education. Our class would have many to gc on to college, Wh®n they have graduated from High Scho-1 they often look fca-'k to their high scncol days. Many come back to F.H.S. to f.ir.d the halls crowded with noisy crowds of boys and girls ana know that th.? have oeeu replaced by others. They will always remember the fun they had though. They know that time must move on and that each year another class will graduate and must face the future like each succeeding graduating class has done. This year our class will move on in the course of time. But we will leave behind us another Senior Class, a new Freshman Class, fond memories, and even the heart- break of graduating. With this short article we have written we now would like to wish the Students of F.H.S. all the luck in the world and hope that they will look forward to the future and only look back in the past for fond memories. This would not have been a successful and fun-filled year had it not been for our wonderful class sponsor, Mrs. Frances Piccolo. Our Junior year began with the election of new class . officers who proved to be a fine choice. They are: President-Brenda Riffle Vice Pres,-Jerry Turnbull Secretary-Marilyn Jones Treasurer-Danny.Robinson Historian-Karen Nestor One of our main class projects was the selling of magazines.. A tremendous effort was made by each boy and girl though Gloria Preston and Jerry Turnbull were top girl and boy salesmen. Another class project we enjoyed was the concession stand at ball games. This was noc only profitable but also a lot of fun. ’Ye are verv proud to have three Junior Class members Richard Collins, Roc;er Spencer, and Sheldon Findley play on the varsity this year. We are looking forward to seeing them in action again next year. Two other members in our class who deserve recognition are Connie Wyckoff score- keeoer for the varsity basketball team and Sherry Oevart high school cheerleader. With great anticipation do we look forw rd to the class tournaments and most of all the annual Prom. This is the mos€ gala affair of the year and we know it will be an event alwavs to be remembered. Our wish for the senior class is a prosperous, happy, and safe future. May you achieve your goals. 10th Grade Girls Geraldire Bailey Marlene 3ensky Lillian (Peggy) Blake Sharon Bo.;-,,r.rd Donna Brownfield Sharon Xay Collins Linda Fitzwater Linda Fleming Judy Fowler Delorls George Sheila Green Linda Hammack Bassha Kittle Mary Menear Alice Moore Sharron McCloy Audra Reid Mary Simpson Sandra Slnsel LaDonna Vincent Nettie Geraldine Wolford Carolyn Zlrkle Bo.y£ Harold Allison Stephen Ball Bil Blake Dovuiy Boggess Jce Bolton William Gather Carl Edward Cottrill Ralph Cunningham Thomas Davis David Fulton Steven Heavener Jce Jenkins Jerry Leach Larry Leach Jimmy Mayle John Tom Marks Okey Marks Samrnie McCloy Thomas McKinney Paul Saltls Herbert Samples Arley Simmons Daniel Shaga Raymond Skidmore Gerald Smith Thomas Stewart Robert Stutler Paul Trimble Michael Westfall Randy Wllfong Terry Wllfong 10th Grade Class History ye once again came back to the small but mighty F.H.S., but as sophomores. They are: Harold Allison, William (Bill) Cather, Joe Jenkins, Herb Samples, and Gerald Smith. We have high hopes for all of them. Later this year we plan to enter the class tournments. Our boys team hasn't had much success, but the girls team won a banner for our class in the eighth grade. We hope to do better this year. We plan to have a class party in May. Last year's party was very nice. To the class of 1963-64; we the sophomore class wish you the best of luck in everything. They were Linda Jones, Sue Shaga, Freeman Brand, and James Gibson. The class also took a field trip to Grafton and met most of the county officials. Our trip was made through the efforts of Mrs. Murphy who was taking Mrs. Cardot’s place when she was ill. This year the ninth grade class had the Thanksgiving program and it was a great success. On December 2, the 9-3 Class held a party for Mrs. Cardot upon her return to school after her illness. The classes had separate Christmas parties. We exchanged gifts and everybody had a nice time.
