The showy band with every horn, Elasting away from night till morn; Our basketball team and all the boys. And the crowds along that make the noise, The cheerleaders doing their ups and downs. Cheering loud for our greyhounds; The buses delivering students to school. Where they can learn the golden rule. The teachers meeting them at the door. So on them the work they can pour; Some students will laugh, and some will jest. And some will never pass a test, Some work hard, and study all day. So in every subject they can make an A; In the library there aro all kinds of books, From ones with good reading, to ones with good looks Downstairs we find the typewriting room, With all the typewriters making a b oom; In the Home Ec. department are sewing classes. Full of girls making clothes with bows and sashes. The smell of food cooking is at every turn. And sometimes, not often, the odor’s a burn; All-in-all F. H, S, was the nicest place we could be As we sailed along on our high school sea; These things all together have met. To help us remember, lest we forget. 9 m CLASS PROPHESY It was early morning on May 22, 1970, when I got the crazy idea of taking a tour around the United States. I packed a few clothes into my suitcase, jumped into my rocket 8,75 satellite speedsmobile, the Ford of 70 and I split the scene leaving Flemington, Rosemont, and Simpson in the dust. As I was going down the road I saw an accident involving two cars. As I drew nearer the ambulance was just leaving. I could not find out who it was so I tagged along behind the ambulance to the hospital where I found Ellen George, now a registered nurse. Our Saluatorian, Richard Howell, now a head surgeon at the hospital told me that the patients were not seriously injured. Then, I journeyed on and as I arrived in Washington, D. C., I saw a crowd of people assembled outside of the . hite House, being of curious nature, I decided to see what was going on. There was a big microscope in to which everyone was looking. When it finally got to he my tum, I looked into it and I saw none other than Terry Jo Riley and Charlie Fawley. They were sitting there on a space ship trying to figure a way to get back. nfhile I was standing there looking oVer the crowd, I saw to my surprise Austin Blake, who was the Post Master General. He was always good at ,:playing p-st office. While I was driving along I saw Joe Isabella, running, I stopped, chatted awhile, and asked him what he was running so hard about and he said Oh'. I forgot I wqs running for President. President of the National Committee to build and maintain better hospitals for catip llars that have toncillites. As I was driving through Miami Beach, Florida; who did I see? You would never guess. Well, it was Sandy Bland, you know what he always said about getting a job where it was warm no matter what it was. Well, he was laying there in his swimming trunks when I asked him what he was doing, his reply was I am counting the lobsters that come in each year, and he started counting again. After leaving Florida, I decided I would go to Texas where the big long horn cattle roam. The first cowboy I happened to see was guess who? No one but Terry Lawson, remember cowboy was his nick- name at school. After talking” to him for a while I wandered into the restaurant to get some food. I was so hungry I ordered a complete steak dinner. When the waitress brought my food and was about to set it down, I looked up and low and behold; there was Ima Jean Knotts. . We talked for a while about the gang of I960. We happened to be talking about one guy and suddenly he appeared. It was Robert Flint, menkger of.'this resiurant u Eat Good Steaks Here. He told me he was married and had two children. My next stop was at Lackland, Air Force Base where I ran into a dear old friend, Margaret Kerns. She and that boy she was engaged to in her senior year had gotten married and were living on the base with their cute little twin boys. X. ‘Tt • j % f ’ % • t - ■ • • • 2 De Before leaving Texas, I refilled my speedsmobile and to ray amazement Pap?ft. DiiTey, was the attendant. New off to New Mexico, I had often herd of tno fancy leather tool in ? shop there. So I stopped there v hei. I reached the place. '.While J was Jhere Dob Ware, and Carolyn,Spencer. who were axso on their vacation, stopped. I was traveling through Arizona, on my way to California, when I lost my way. I uaw a few fellows along the read nailing up a sigg or billboards; I stopond ..rd after talking a few minutes I learned it was one of my classmates Hamid Gray, .nailing up signs for Jones’ Toothpicks Inc. Incorporated by none other than that little gpy Mickey Vingent. I was California bound an on I went. On arriving I learned it would soon be time for the :iQueen for a Day program. I decided to attend so I joined the line going in. In this tremendous crowd I would never have expected to find someone 1 knew but I did. There were Be tty Kr.ight and Lois Felton. They '.re oat there working now, and that was their day off so they had decided to take in the show. But the greater surprise wav-.yct t.c cone , Instead of Jacx Bailey, who should be the director but Leonard Criso. who was substituting for Dailey while he was on a business trip. I had decided now to visit a few of the studio’s while visiting I ran on to Shi rjcy Fram, who was now a Ballet teacher. Was she ever having a grand time flirting with the men, it use to be the boys. Remember? With so many places to visit in this big state I knew I would be there a few days. The next place I visited was Hollojrwood. There rehearsing to play in a big movie was Ann a Jane Kinsey, and who was she reheasing with? Ricky Nelson. I had always wanted to visit Disneyland. Coriousity bound, here I go. Who should be one of the guides but Charles Green. We chatted for a few nDnutes, just long enough to learn there had been several from our graduating class visiting Disneyland. In fact Betty Wiseman had been there just one month previous to my coming As I was driving through the next little town, I don’t recall the name of the place, I noticed along the street there seemed to be a great confusion. It was a Bubble Cum contest concreted by jfary Inn Rogueki. After being there a while I noticed Nyoka Green, was also a contestant. Thin I knew I didn’t have a ch?.ajo|r So, X talked to Mary .Inn a while and found that she obtained this Bubble Gum from R_y Goble, and Son’s Bubble Bubble Plant located in the trery heart of Rosemont. There at the plant Connie Davis Hayes was acting as bis secretary. I A fow miles from there I decided to visit the local brain factory school in other words). While walking through the hall Joey Collins swept me off my feet. He was now principal there. Later on I saw Carolyr Hess and Shirley Fltzwater. who were teachers there. At the time being they were having a conference (meeting of the bored). After I left the schools I went to visit a Pretzel Factory, owned by Lester Sandy. There I saw Correna Me Caniey. she had the job of tying knots in the pretzels. Now, I was in Denver, Colorado. As I war walking down the steet I saw Gwendolyn Wyckoff, and -Judy White, on their way to Chicago, to enter a yodiling contest. Driving Along I decided to listen to the radio, I turned it on only to hear a commercial. But after a second I could tel], by this destinguised voice that it was none other than -Indy Sait is, I am now in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I saw U-ary F. Sinon, and Mar Jane Sbagga. I found out by tal ? ng to them, that they were in the baby-sitting business. They ware baby sitting with their grade school students. My next stop was Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As I was coming down the street I locked up ahead and T saw Clair McCray, who was looking very sad. When I asked him what was wrong, he said that he had gene bankrupt, trying to sell Ice Cream Ccnes to the Eskimos in Alaska. Upon arriving in Detroit, Michigan I saw Joan Stewart and ?Ay Mayle. They had become nurses in the Navy. They would put a thoraomether in a sailor's mouth, hold his hand, smile, at him, and expect his temperature to go down. While was there I saw Stanley Smith and John Cole, who owned a used car lot. They sold cars in first crash conditions. Now, I have reached Cleveland, Ohio, the state closer home. Here I saw Butch Saucer walking down the street looking through a micro- scope. When I asked him was be was do ng, he said, I am looking for the flea that bit my dog. I am now on my way homo Driving along I saw Hoy Mnllar.s the boy who always wanted to do something big and clean. He war. washing the elephants fer the circus. As I was just coming into Flemir.gton I sawDelmas McCainsy running down ohe road. Thus a wonderful journey comes to an end. :IE KNOT THE!.! The Flemington Greyhounds opened their season against Coalton. They won it easily with a 71-50 final score. The team made victories of its first 9 games. Then they met a tough Lumberport team and were defeated by one point with the final score being 73-72„ This game was a heartbreaker for Fleming!on., but the people at Lumberport felt they had won one of the major games of their season. The next six games were won with ease, then the team journeyed to Bristol. Bristol took a 46-44 half-time lead, and continued on strongly and led the remainder of the game, and finally won 88-78 Lumberport came to Flemington and suffered an 81-51 defeat. The team felt a lttle more confident then. The confidence waH shattered when the Greyhounds traveled to Lost Creek and met another defeat Flemington started the game strongly and led until the third quarter when Lost Creek broke lose and outscored F, K. Sc 31-19. Flemington couldn’t seem to carch up, and the final score was 95-88 in favor of Lost Creek, In the next to the last game of the regular season thf Greyhounds defeated Wallace to tie with Salem for the Little Ten Championship; After traveling to St, Augustine, tournament time was here again. Once more Flemington was to play in Section 6 at the Fairmont College Gym, The first game was against Rivesville, who Flemington easily defeated with a 77-58 score. The next night the Greyhounds not Barrackville who had defeated Fairview for the right to play in the finals. Here was a strong team who had lost only one game in regular season play to Firview by one point. They ran over Flemington with an 89-53 final score. For the second straight year Flemington was the rummers up on Section 6, e are proud to have had two members of our team, Leonard Urtso and Terry Lawson, on the all tournament team. ■ All-in-all it was a very fine season and Coach Shields did a wonderful Job with the boys.
