A group of 32 girls and 24 boys innocently traveling the hall3 the first fev days. It was a common occurence for a Bind heart- ed hclpfvil senior to find a 7th grader on 3rd floor scrching for Chenoweths, English room (which was on the first floor at that tino.) Miss McDanicl and Miss Chenoweth were our class sponsors in our first year, at last tho' v e got things straightened as v e passed on to the basketball season. But let us hasten through our vacations to the eight grade, our class this year was lead by Ifir.Newlon and Mis3 Newcome. This year was proved to be a profitiable, but extra-ordinary eight grade class. Vie also gave the play, Sauce for tho Gosl- ing, Stunt Night and here we arc, tho 30th of May with three whole months of freedom. Sept.4,1939 v e entered again to begin our first year of sonior high, sorry to say, but quite a few have left thi3 beloved institution of ours. The next year we wero Sophomore (Naturally) my but v c thought those Freshios wore green. We had forgotten all about the year before, I suppose. But that's the way with Sophomoreo. Well we know how it felt to Be Sophomores, but then v o had one large class for Sophomores, and consequently lored It over the Grocnies. Our class was A large class for Sophomores, but then we had one large class director. We were upper classmon and ourselves as such, did I say wo acted like upper classmen, in that case I'll let you be the judge.) Our class had the distinction of being the first Junior Class to give a Junior play. The title was Deacon Dubb , and proved to be a reat success. That spring we gave to the Seniors the customary Senior banquot. Nov; we are Seniors, and have to don the cloak of dignity to carry out trnditon. To bo frank, the said dignity cloak” doesn't fit and thanks to all that. Wo thu3 far have not acquired that D ignifiod Seniors title. What a struggle, but a greater pcrso.ntago of our class of 37 madoit, wo wore lucky to have that many. Those v ho quit, cither to work or take some other vocation, they v crc missed in athletics, dramatics, clubs and other act- ivities . Sports These are the teams that have played and 3tood up for our good old School, Flemington Hi, throughout the achool year od 1941-42. They had strong will power and they played to win. Both teams have had a very good year in basketball. Y e went to Jane Lew and entered into a tour- nament and made out very well the first night with a win over Walkersville High School. The second night we mot the end with Barricksvillo defeating us very badly. ’«Yell we can understand that because they havo gone up to play for the State Championship of West Virginia. ■7c had a very good winter for these trips, but getting transportation for these trips was a problem. That’s why our girls played only a few games this year. Y e finished the year in a vory good way, considering both teams. Together with our having a good year in this sport, wo had a swell coach taking part in thi3 game too. Hr.Hall has boon a swell coach for our small team. Y e hope him a great deal more success also many future teams. Our two teams have shown good sportsmanship and played good clean games. They also had to have good team work before they could play much of a game. On March 23-24-25 the Inter Class Games were played, but Simpson did not enter this year so it was all left between the classes of Flcm- ington High School. 7'ith the ending of the tournament we ended another season of baskotball with the prizes cheering section going to the Seniors.
