CLASS HISTORY I ln September of l940 our class was first organized in the grade school building. The following seniors are among those who enrolled that year. They are: Teresa Ancona, Donna Ausum, Coleman Bennett, Jim Bodary, Ardis Boyd, Marilyn Francis, Virginia Grier, Gary Hall, Tom McClure, Don Priest, Wanda Whisler and Julie Wright. During the next few years we were taught our three R's, and in the fall of l946 we moved into the high school building and started the sixth grade. We were honored with two new pupils that year, Larry Brown and Jack Kreger. We entered the seventh grade in i947 and were now in Junior High School. We elected Joe Gricol as our class president. ln l948 we entered the eighth grade, and elected as our president Jack Kreger. We had a class party that year at which games were played, refreshments served and dancing enjoyed. We started our treasury by paying a small amount of dues. By the end of the year there was the sum of 527.50 in our treasury. Two pupils, Sid Bryant and Bill Butchart left us to attend other schools. Then came T949 and our Freshman year. We meet many new faces and those Seniors who entered that year were: Tom Blue, Betty Coats, Janice Cole, Hal Goodhue, Mary Hardin, lla Konarske, John Miller, Jerry Mittlestat, Tom Schweizer, Ken Weddle, King Weimer, Chuck Wenzel, and Ray Wrobel. We held a get-acquainted party which was successful and enioyed by all. Jack Kreger was elected president to guide us through the year. Many of us ioined the sport teams, glee club, and band. We participated in the athletic carnival and band concert by supplying our muscular and musical talent. Our biology class took a trip to the Toledo Zoo on a chartered bus, accompanied by Mr. Mittlestat. The money in our treasury was steadily increasing with profits from concessions, dances, etc. We were dubbed Sophomores in 1950. We elected Ken Weddle our president. Joan and Charles Sutton and Donna Wood left us to attend other schools. Mr. Vyn took us to Greenfield Village as a proiect of the history class. We were honored with a new pupil, Judy Bass, early in the spring. Our girls were requested to serve at the Junior-Senior banquet, which was held in the Methodist Church basement. ln our iunior, l95l, Jerry Mittlestatl was elected president of our class. After n'uch considera- tion we ordered our class rings from the Terryberry Company and received them in November. We picked our class play to be The Cannibal Queenn, directed by Mr. Ator. It was given on May l and 2. We got together with the seniors and put on the Junior-Senior Prom, called 'Moonlight Sonata . Everyone who came enioyed themselves very much. We gave the seniors a very nice banquet on June 2 and escorted them during the Baccalaureate and Commencement on June Sth and l2th. We received two new students that year: Evelyn Burdick and Jack Shaw. Then in i952 came our biggest and busiest year. We were now seniors! Although we gained two new additions to the class: Sid Dean and Delores Korsnerp we lost Pat Ford, Lois Charles, Bev Diekman, Dinah Katz, and Harold Wilkie. We elected Gary Hall as president of the class. Our class pictures were taken by Powell Studios in September and we received them in November. Our class play entitled Arsenic and Old Lace , and directed by Mr. Ator, was given on November 25 and 26. It was a huge success. ln December Mr. Van Whye took us to Detroit to visit the courts. To boost the money in our treasury we sold Christmas wreaths, had paper drives, bake sales, sold Guardian subscriptions, and many other numerous things. There are many events we are looking forward to, and these are: Junior-Senior Prom, Fad Day, Teach Day, Skip Day, our Senior Trip to Washington D. C., the last week in May, the Junior- Senior Banquet, and from there we well look hopefully yet regretfully to graduation. By Ardis Boyd Historian

I, Wanda Whisler, do will and bequeath my position in the bank to Mary Janet Behm and Margaret Brillowsky. l, Julie Wright, do will and bequeath my abundant energy to Alice Schoen. l, Ray Wrobel, do will and bequeath my above average grades to Jerry Pichan. The instrument was on the day of the date thereof, signed, published, and declared by the said testor, the Senior Class, to be their last will and testament in the presence of the said witnesses who at our request have subscribed their name herein. by Jerry Mittlestat, Testor PROPHESY, CLASS OF 1953 Today l received a notice from the secretary of our senior class, Janice Cole, which said 'The Class of 1953 will hold a class reunion from July 26 through August ll, 1963. Arrangements have been made for everyone in the class to take over their former position for one week. There will be one week of school with the same classes as in your senior year and one basketball game between the Varsity Teams of 'l953 and l963. You are requested to attend the reunion to take your part in the past. When we graduated from high school about half of the class were planning to go to college with a few planning to teach school. Bob Mittlestat and Harold Goodhue are the leaders of the local boy's athletic club. Virginia Grier is an art teacher at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Judy Bass is teach- ing voice at her own studio in Detroit. Don Priest, a minister, and Mary Hardin are missionaries in Africa. Wouldn't it be a coincidence if they would come over on the plane that Tom Schweizer, pilot, and Charles Wenzel, co-pilot were fly- ing with Vivian Hanning as their air hostess. Upon arrival at the Nan-Bar Airport they would be met by the first car off the assembly line of the newest corporation in Flat Rock, which was named after the designer of the cars, Gary Hall. All the cars off this assembly line will be Hall originals. I have heard a rumor that Kenny Weddle, the famous player-manager of the world champion football team the Flat Rock Rams, will play an exhibition game for charity. It has been said that he has a special treatment for any player who runs the wrong way and goes across the opponents goal line. Sid Dean, who was the champion sleeper of our class, especially during economic, makes very good mattress tester. To keep him in good condition for the strenuous iob, he has engaged a private doctor, Tom Blue with his staff, Delores Korsner, as his nurse and Janice Cole, as his secretary. l know that most of the boys in our class have been in and out of the service with two exceptions, Willie Blohm and Coleman Bennett. Coleman is going to make a career out of the army. Willis is staying in the navy to finish his latest book, 'A Girl in Every Port . Of course all the members of the class will want to go shopping and buy some new clothes at the newest department store in town. A stranger coming into town notices this building first because of the height and gleaming white marble front. lt is a credit to the construction company which is owned and managed by James Bodary. The women's department of this store is managed by lla Mae Konarske and features the designs of Jack Shaw and the color combinations of Joe Gricol with the modeling of Julie Wright. The men's department of this store is managed by Jerry Mittlestat, who is a private detective in his spare time. Jerry is going to be a full time private detective and is passing his posi- tion at the store on to Cliff Dubke.
