The Freshman Class Officers are (left to right): Dickie Stratton, president; Vera Connor, secretary-treasurer; and Gene Hoots, vice-president. The freshman leaves elementary school elated at the prospect of entering more advanced work and finding new friends. But it does not take him long to come to the humiliating realization that he is again a “rookie.” There is nothing to do but to familiarize himself with the schedules, customs, and vernacular of Flat Rock stu- Page Thirty-Two dents, apply himself to his studies, and look forward to the prestige enjoyed by upperclassmen.
